A Statement by the RadioArchive.cc Administration and Moderator Team
As you will all know, the RadioArchive.cc main site was subject to a hack attack on Friday 13th September 2013 and again on Thursday 14th November by one "Lord Nik0n". S/he claimed to have copied all member emails and passwords. S/he disrupted certain site functionality, deleted some Mod accounts, and promised to wreak further havoc.
We - the Mod team - do not know for sure what, if any, data was stolen or compromised. Many aspects of the RA.cc site, and the whole of its server side, cannot be accessed by the Mods, and are the sole preserve of Cheops, the site's owner.
Since the first attack, the Mods have made every possible effort to contact Cheops. We have had no response whatsoever. And - as many members will know - for various reasons Cheops has been very difficult to contact for some time, regarding RA.cc outages, software bugs, security issues, or generally desirable upgrades.
All of the Mods are profoundly grateful to Cheops for running and funding such a great spoken word resource, for so many years, pretty much out of his own pocket (we're thankful to our member-donors too, of course). We wish him well, and we sincerely hope for his and RA.cc's full return.
However, the Mods are unanimous in agreeing that we can't go on like this. RA.cc, however great, is creaky and full of holes. We badly need a fully updated RA.cc site, but our efforts over the last year or so to achieve that end have essentially got nowhere. The Mods are all unpaid volunteers, helping out with RA.cc in our spare time; and we now all feel that this time is not being well-used.
So, all the Mods are leaving the site. It may or may not continue to function. But we will no longer be actively engaged in Moderating or Administering it.
We will all remain active members of the Forum (whose security was not breached at all), where anything pertaining to RA.cc or the future of spoken-word-sharing can still be discussed.
This hasn't been an easy decision, and truly hasn't been one we've wanted to make. But we are unanimous in making it.
Happy Future Listening!
[Though please note that, from now on, use of the RadioArchive.cc site is at your own risk. The former Admins and Mods will accept no further responsibility

Post hack, we seem to have yet another bug that can't be fixed (except by Cheops, the site's missing owner......).
DO NOT USE any Theme / Skin other than:
BLACK GOLD (the default)
The others are buggy in one way or another, NB-45 catastrophically so (it will almost certainly result in a necessary deletion of your account to clear the resulting white-screen bug...).
